The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are the most authoritative source of web accessibility guidelines around the world. They are written to be technology-agnostic, meaning they can be applied to all current and future web technologies.

The WCAG Success Criteria are each scored as either Level A, Level AA, or Level AAA, where A is the lower level of conformance and AAA is the highest level of conformance. Most organizations set AA as their internal standard because it's both achievable and meaningful. Depending on your audience and your site, you may want or need to implement AAA standards as well.

Don't have time to read through all of them? Try reading Web Content Accessibility Guidelines—for People Who Haven't Read Them by Alan Dalton at 24 Ways.
